BUSHING REPLACEMENT IN 14 HOURS

Nava Nakorn Electricity Generating Company (NNEG), now known as the Nonthaburi – RATCH Group Public Company Limited (RATCH) is a small power producer which has been operating since 2013. There are currently eight LM6000s that are in operation to provide electricity as well as steam to industrial users in the Nava Nakorn Industrial Zone in the Pathum Thani province, Thailand.

At an outage recently at the Nava Nakorn Industrial Zone, FieldCore was commissioned to perform the scheduled outage for a VSV Bushing replacement (SB213) which happens after 12,000 firing hours. With careful planning of the manpower schedule and the usage of a quality checklist, the team achieved a global first – completing the outage in just 14 hours instead of the standard 24 hours. As a result, the customer was back up and running in record time.

The FieldCore team accomplished this amazing feat with no safety or quality issues thanks to a deep understanding of the fleet and what was required to undergo routine maintenance, and innovative thinking toward the manpower scheduling. By splitting the teams into two shifts the crew could simultaneously work on three sides of the engine (left, right and bottom) instead of the usual two side approach. An added advantage was the meticulous planning of the second shift that came in later and was able to perform the engine startup with the customer at the end of the shift.
